In many developing countries, like ours, the rates of early detection of autism and other developmental disorders is low. Similarly, timely and early intervention is typically limited as well, because of a lack of adequate resources both professional and material. Notwithstanding, In many Caribbean islands, the gradually advancing efforts to increase capacity and improve management of disabilities including ASDs by government and civil society are to be commended.

All manner of persons must always be treated kindly, equally and with respect, moreso in cases where circumstances force an individual to do things in a different way because he or she is "visually impaired", "disabled" or even "handicapped". These terms "visually impaired", "disabled" and "handicapped" can give the distasteful impression that the blind lacks something as opposed to simply going about things in a different way.
